God calls each person by name. Our Constitutions say, 'You are called to an extraordinary adventure.'

Our mission is an adventure in faith, hope and love that can bring us to places or communities where people live in great poverty, lack basic health care or experience human tragedy and deep suffering. There we believe our work of healing and human development makes God’s presence alive and gives dignity even to the most marginalized and stigmatized people in our world.

Many talents needed!

Our work may take place in hospitals, health centres, universities, on the street or with parish health teams. As well as Sisters who have qualifications in health-related professions, the mission of MMM also needs Sisters qualified in theology, business administration, IT, communications, etc. In fact, there are no talents that cannot be put to good use in the Medical Missionaries of Mary.

Our spirituality
We follow an active Benedictine spirituality and live in communities with our Sisters. Prayer, work and recreation each find a place in a balanced life-style. Among our values are hospitality, compassion and interconnectedness. We take vows of celibacy, poverty and obedience, which free us to love widely, live simply, and offer service wherever we are most needed.

Our Mission Statement
As Medical Missionaries of Mary, in a world deeply and violently divided, we are women on fire with the healing love of God. Engaging our own pain and vulnerability, we go to peoples of different cultures, where human needs are greatest. Our belief in the inter-relatedness of God's creation urges us to embrace holistic healing and to work for reconciliation, justice and peace.

Where we are
MMMs can be found in Angola, the Republic of Benin, Brazil, England, Honduras, Ireland, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria, the Republic of South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, and the USA. At present there are about three hundred and fifty MMM Sisters from nineteen different nationalities.
