Special Friends of MMM

Our Special Friends form the hidden backbone of our work. They provide the support, encouragement and financial assistance that enables us to carry on our work of healing and development among very poor communities in eleven developing countries.

Do it your way

You don't have to do a parachute jump in order to help MMM! But that is exactly what Chris Hemsley decided to do. To celebrate her 40th birthday she asked her friends, instead of giving her a birthday gift, to sponsor her jump in support of the HIV/AIDS work of her friend, Sister-doctor Brigid Corrigan.

You don't have to run a Casino at your local Hotel! But that is what Veronica Kirwan and Mary Sullivan did, at a Ball organized by the Drogheda Ladies Committee in support of MMM in Angola.

You don't have to do anything spectacular, maybe just collect loose change in a jam jar or send us your used stamps.

Some of our Supporters are individuals, or couples, who make a Standing Order with their Bank. That enables us to budget for our projects, as we know we can rely on this income for the year ahead.

Teaming Up with the Medical Missionaries of MaryOther Supporters form small Donor Groups, and work together with their friends to raise funds for MMM. These groups include Parish Groups, School Children and Teachers, Factory Workers and Trade Union Groups and many others. Their activities vary - depending on the age group involved.

School children often do a sponsored fast day. Young people run marathons or do sponsored cycles, organize discos, or do Supermarket packing.

The MMM Communications Department can provide posters and other visual aids including videos or DVDs, to Support Groups and provides authorisation to raise funds on behalf of MMM.

Other people are simply very special friends who share their time and professional expertise with us, because they feel called to share in the service we try to provide.

Some of our Supporters form a Partnership with a specific MMM Mission. In addition to fund-raising, they make a commitment to get to know the situation affecting the local people in one of our areas of Mission. The funds they raise are specified to help our work of healing and development in that area.
