Marathon effort for Operating Room Lamp
Sister Maura Lynch and friends were among 40,000 women who participated in the Dublin Women's Mini-Marathon to raise funds for charity. Between them they raised more than €1 million for hundreds of worthy causes.
The immediate need for Sister Maura, who is Senior Surgeon at Kitovu Hospital, Uganda, is an operating room overhead lamp which has a battery back-up, badly needed because of the frequent power failures in the area.
As soon as she has raised €5,000 she can place an order for the lamp, which will make such a difference in carrying out the delicate surgery required for the repair of vesico-vaginal fistulae, in which Kitovu Hospital specialises. The Marathon sponsorship for the team already raised the first €1,000, so only €4,000 more is needed. If you can help, please click below.
Joining Sister Maura in the Marathon were her sister Breda Rogers (pictured here with Sister Maura), nieces Sandra and Janette, and sister-in-law Eithne, all long-term supporters of her work in Africa.
